Ronald Walker has been a prominent businessman in Australia for over 40 years. He was founder and chairman of Hudson Conway Limited and was also a co-founder and director of Crown Casino Limited. In addition to his Chairmanship of the Microsurgery Foundation and The Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery, he is the Chairman of both Fairfax Media Limited and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Executive Chairman of Huntingfield Investments Pty Ltd. He also holds Directorships on the Football Federation Australia and the Australian Tissue Engineering Centre.
Mr Walker was Lord Mayor of Melbourne from 1974 - 1978 and has served Australia in many honorary and charitable capacities over the years. In 1977 he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for service to the community. He became an Officer of the Order for Australia (AO) for service to the community in 1987, and was made a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in 2003 for services to business, arts, tourism and the community.



Professor Wayne Morrison is the Director of the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery and Executive Director of the Microsurgery Foundation. He is Professor of Surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne and Head of Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is the Hugh Devine Professor and Head of The University of Melbourne Department of Surgery at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and most recently awarded the B.K. Rank Professorship for the Australian Society Plastic Surgery and the Prince Henry’s Medal (Royal Australian College of Surgeons). Professor Morrison was awarded an AO in 2000.
John Haddad is Deputy Chair of the Microsurgery Foundation and a Board Member of the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery. He was Deputy Chairman of The Federal Hotels Group and Deputy Chairman of Crown Management Pty. Ltd. until December, 1999.
Professor Geoff Stevens leads an internationally recognised separations group in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Melbourne, is the Director of the Particulate Fluids Processing ARC Special Research Centre and a Project Leader in the CRC for Greenhouse Gas Remediation (CO2CRC). He is Secretary General of the International Solvent Extraction Committee, is on a number of editorial boards and has a lead role in the development of biocompatible material for tissue implants
Geoff Stephenson is a retired banker after working for 44 years with the National Australia Bank. He has been a Board member of the Microsurgery Foundation since 1986. He says that his main reason of being a board member of the Foundation and BOBIM is to support and continue the work and dreams of the late Bernard O’Brien and this important research centre and its people.
Tim Piper is the Victorian Director of the Australian Industry Group which represents nearly 10,000 manufacturing, IT, telecommunications, construction and utility companies across the country, with almost 4,000 members in Victoria. Prior to working with Ai Group, he was Executive Director of the Australian Retailers Association, Victoria for 5 years. Mr Piper has also practised as a barrister and solicitor in Australia and the UK and worked as a journalist in television, radio and newspapers.
Gillian Franklin is the Managing Director of her own company – The Heat Group Pty Ltd. She has previously held Managing Director and General Management positions for some of Australia’s leading consumer companies, including Creative Brands and Revlon.
Stephen is a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia, having joined the firm in April 2009 to commence a comlimentary corporate and commercial legal capability. Prior to that, Stephen was the Chairman of Partners at Mills Oakley Lawyers. Stephen is a corporate and commercial lawyer with over 20 years experience. Stephen has been involved with the Foundation and Institute for nearly 10 years and has seen many changes over that time.
Campbell Walker joined UMS as an owner and Executive Director two years after its founding. He previously had sales and marketing skills honed in the beer industry for Fosters and Lion Nathan, together with a broad understanding of the construction industry after working with the Podgor Group and Grollo.
Professor Cook is Professor and Director of Neurology at St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, Prof. Cook is a neurologist specialising in the treatment of epilepsy and has formed a large research group with a broad range of interests across epilepsy, neuromuscular disease, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease.
A University of Sydney graduate, Professor Fox was Deputy Director of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital from 1977 to 1984. He was then Director of the Department of Clinical Haematology and Medical Oncology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital from 1985 to 2006. His main clinical interests have been clinical trials in cancer therapy. In 2007 he was appointed Director of Research at St Vincents Hospital in Melbourne. Professor Fox is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative Research Centre for Cancer Therapeutics and in 2010 was elected President of the Cancer Council of Victoria. He is a past President of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia and the Australian Cancer Society (now Cancer Council Australia).
