Research

The Institute carries out scientific research in a number of fields which serve to compliment our surgical and clinical activities.

This is carried out by groups organised around specific themes, such as tissue engineering, cytoprotection from stroke and ischaemia, vascular biology and cancer. Tissue engineering, reconstruction and repair is the mainstay of research at the Insitute. The tissue engineering group has sections on adipose, liver, muscle, thymus and pituitary, and interacts closely with the other groups. Each group section headed up by a senior scientist who oversees the research effort in his/her area.
